Jeff Nippard spills the beans on what is wrong with ab exercises

He started the video by speaking about how the general ab exercises are not going to make any benefits as such. He called out the fitness influencers who showe, “fast-paced fat-burning style workouts,” which is completely a waste of time according to him. He also said, “This is still good exercise but it is essentially just another form of cardio.”

The exercise scientist then said, “Sure, you will burn a few calories but you’re not building your six-pack instead to get your six-pack to pop you’d be much better off doing progressive overload training just like you would for any other muscle. You do that by loading the abs with weight.”

He said, “My first scientific study was officially published and it answers the question of what is optimal training technique.” He further explained that they found out that the first range of motion is the most significant factor. He said, “You need to use a range of motion that gets the muscle fully stretched.” One can do that by using a full range of motion with a deep stretch or by using long-length partials.
