Soon, Arnie was interacting with the American elites, and eventually, he met the Kennedy Princess, Maria Shriver, in 1977.

Shriver and Schwarzenegger dated for a few years before putting a ring on the relationship in 1986. However, their 25-year bond ended when Arnie admitted to Shriver about fathering Joseph Baena with Mildred Baena. In the light of his upcoming book release, Schwarzenegger had a candid conversation with People. Speaking about his and Shriver’s role as grandparents to their eldest daughter’s kids, Arnie confessed that it wasn’t a new chapter and a continuation of their story.
“We never left the [first] chapter,” the 76-year-old said before confessing, “Because remember, it’s not like we had a feud. We didn’t have a fight. It’s just my f— up, right? She said, ‘Okay, this is what it is,’ and then she decided to make a split, so it was her decision.” However, they ensured the kids didn’t suffer and the ex-couple celebrated all the special occasions as a family with kids till now. “My chapter with Maria will continue on forever. Even though it’s a different relationship, there’s no reason for me to feel anything other than love for her,” the Governator revealed. The Twins icon once admitted that Shriver is his best friend.

For Arnie and Shriver, family is a top priority. So, even after hitting the bottom of their relationship, the ex-couple managed to sail the boat of parenthood smoothly. Earlier, Arnie spoke about his bond with Shriver after separating as wife and husband.
When an interviewer asked him, “What’s your relationship like with Maria?” the bodybuilding icon admitted that his former spouse is his best friend. “Well, she is, you know, my best friend, and we talk pretty much every day,” the 76-year-old confessed, who recently celebrated his eldest son’s birthday along with Maria Shriver.
