The 2023 Mr. Olympia has wrapped up its main event. After Chris Bumstead defended his Classic Physique title for the fifth time and Jennifer Dorie regained her Bikini Olympia title, it was time for the open division finals. The Mr. Olympia final was an intense event. However, last year’s champion, Hadi Choopan, didn’t retain his Mr. Olympia title.

After a hard-fought battle between Choopan, Derek Lunsford, and Samson Dauda for the top three, Lunsford came out on top. Shortly before the Olympia, many experts had made predictions. However, it seems eight-time winner Ronnie Coleman was spot on with his top three predictions.

As the dust settled at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, Derek Lunsford lifted the Snadow trophy. Last year’s champion, Hadi Choopan, had to settle for second place. Meanwhile, Smason ‘The Nigerian’ Dauda, who had a lot of hype behind him, took home the bronze medal. Not only did Ronnie Coleman’s prediction come true, but even his reasoning held.

Before the contest, the bodybuilding icon praised Smason Suada for making “some real nice gains in the last two years.” While Coleman also praised the improvement in Dauda’s conditioning, the eight-time champion didn’t think the Arnold Classic Champion would win. While many people predicted Choopan to retain his title, Coleman had a different take.

The Bodybuilding legend said Hadi Choopan won in 2022 because of his superior conditioning. However, Coleman had argued that the competition, especially Derek Lunsford, would close the gap this year. It turned out that the 59-year-old had perfectly guessed how things would play out, as Hadi Choopan didn’t have a noticeable edge in conditioning this year. However, Coleman got one placing wrong.

Nearly spot-on with his top-five prediction

Before the contest, the former champion predicted Andrew Jacked would finish in second place. While the 59-year-old got it right, he had predicted former champion Brandon Curry would place sixth while Walker would place fourth. However, just two days before the competition, Nick Walker injured his hamstring and was out of the competition.

Brandon Curry also got food poisoning and had to be hospitalized on the day of the press conference. However, Curry recovered, competed, and beat Andrew Jacked. The former Mr. Olympia winner took fourth place. However, no one can guess how things would have turned out if Nick Walker competed.
