IFBB Pro bodybuilding coach Greg Doucette is well aware of Connor Murphy and the incidents surrounding his tumultuous YouTube career. The once-popular bodybuilder became infamous for PED-related troubles and mental health issues. However, Murphy returned to his fitness-influencing career in 2022 and has flown under the radar since then until yesterday.

On May 5, 2024, news of Conner Murphy attacking his 20-year-old girlfriend with a golf club in Thailand surfaced. Alongside articles, footage from the scene and his neighbor’s CCTV also surfaced. Greg Doucette was among the first fitness influencers to cover the news. While Coach Greg explained the details, he also gave a surprising verdict about the incident.

Doucette uploaded his video titled, “He’s Crazier Than Last Time,” and said Murphy injured himself and his girlfriend in a fit of rage. Doucette referenced that the bodybuilder has a history of serious mental health issues, and this may be a relapse. However, the veteran bodybuilder also revealed Murphy’s words that planted the seed of doubt in him.

Greg Doucette pulled up a report that said the Thai police detained Connor Murphy and took his statement. However, the bodybuilder told the police that he staged the incident for YouTube content. This statement led the former bodybuilding champion to believe that the infamous fitness influencer may have staged the entire thing, including ensuring the media would report on it.

Fellow YouTuber and bodybuilder Kolton Lukes, who lives in Thailand, also reported the Murphy incident. He revealed that the Thai authorities didn’t believe the American. They reviewed the CCTV footage and concluded that the bodybuilder may’ve had a manic episode. However, Doucette still believes Murphy may have staged it as he has claimed after other incidents in the past.

Connor Murphy has admitted to staging elaborate incidents

Greg Doucette reminded everyone that Connor Murphy is also an actor in his analysis of the Thailand incident. The bodybuilder explained that the infamous influencer has admitted to staging his mental breakdown and subsequent hospitalization. Murphy said he had always wanted to become an actor, and the entire incident was his final attempt at getting noticed as an actor.

The bodybuilding community found Connor Murphy’s explanation questionable, and Greg Doucette shared that sentiment. This is why, despite the incident being so serious that Murphy injured himself and his girlfriend, the veteran bodybuilder cannot shake the feeling that it was an intentional act by the American.
