Frank Zane unveils the secret to being fit

In one of the episodes of The Mike O’Hearn Show posted on the official YouTube page of Generation Iron Fitness and Bodybuilding, Frank Zane appeared as the guest and Mike O’Hearn seemed pretty much impressed with whatever he had to say regarding the sport. He even mentions pursuing bodybuilding intelligently.

To that, Frank Zane replies that he has been working out consistently for 60 years. He said, “From age 14 up to now.” He added, “My goals are different now. I just want to keep my circulation good and my joints healthy. Not training heavy not getting injured.” Mike O’Hearn goes about adding how despite not lifting too much weight, he’s still doing it and the most important part is that he’s doing it correctly.

Frank Zane once even revealed why it is very important to keep changing workouts as you grow. Certain workouts are feasible only till a particular age. If one continues to do it after he has outgrown the category, he might easily get injured. The key to being fit is understanding your body and working out accordingly.

In his initial days of bodybuilding, Frank Zane loved going heavy and would hurt PRs every week. However, with time, as he started aging, and his primary goal became not falling ill, he started replacing weight training with machine workouts and went absolutely light on the weights.
