The sport of bodybuilding demands immense dedication and perseverance from the athlete’s end. As the Mr. Olympia 2023 is about to start in a short while, athletes from all over the globe have started to assemble in Orlando for the biggest and most awaited bodybuilding show of the year.

While days ago it was revealed that one of the most exciting prospects of this year’s Olympia Nick Walker won’t be able to participate due to injury, today another one joins the injured list. The 2023 Master’s Olympia Wellness Champion Nerilde Garcia has recently faced the wrath of a meniscus tear at the last moment.

Nerilde Garcia battling with a last-minute injury

While injuries are a very common part of the sport of bodybuilding, getting injured days out from a show despite spending a fortune during the prep can be extremely painful. At the moment, Garcia holds 48 titles, and 15 pro show victories, and also coaches a ton of athletes. While she was looking forward to adding another title under her belt, fate had other plans. 

An Instagram post from a fitness page revealed the news recently as they wrote, “BREAKING: 2023 Master’s Olympia #Wellness Champion @nerildegarciapro to miss out on the 2023 Mr. Olympia due to a last-minute meniscus tear.”

Nick Walker’s unfortunate end to a good season

Nick Walker was predicted to place in the top five at this year’s Olympia contest. After proving his mettle at last year’s contest after placing third and beating the previous year’s champion, Big Ramy fans were excited to see Nick climb the ladder of success. Tragically, he announced being injured due to a hamstring tear at the last moment.

“It’s with a heavy heart I won’t be stepping stage this year due to unforeseen and unfortunate reasons that remind us we’re only human,” wrote the bodybuilder as the caption of his video. Continuing further, Walker stated, “I tried to push through it. I tried to do whatever I could get all the treatment I could.” However, the injury got worse and Walker had to pull out of the contest.
