In an insane sequence during an NBA game between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves, a Spurs player almost dunked on a mop boy. After struggling through the first half, the Spurs finally got a chance to put some more points on the board, off a steal. All charged up, the team was ready to throw it down on a fast break.

While it’s not a discussion of who’s more important to the team, mop boys are essential to any game. Especially recovering from a pandemic, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene is of the utmost importance today.

However, the NBA has since time immemorial employed these workers who have often also gotten the rough side of the job coming to them. What did this mean for the Spurs?

Spurs started the game poorly and ended the first half down by 13 points to the Timberwolves. At the time of this dunk, they were down 18 points and got the difference back to 16. Notably, this was only near the end of the first quarter itself.

So clearly, since the Spurs were visibly desperate to score, it would have been a relief that the ball boy did not cost them more points and no one walked away hurt.

Now at the end of this game, it looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves cruised to victory. They ended the game with a 25 point blowout of the Spurs. The time has come for the coaches to raise the white flag and look ahead to the next game.
