Ben Simmons’ trade saga is currently the biggest talking point in the NBA circles. The 25-year-old Australian has been with the Philadelphia 76ers since 2016, but now, he wants out. But they haven’t received a good replacement bid for Simmons and this has led to a standoff between the franchise and their former no.1 pick. Simmons has reportedly informed his team that he longer wishes to continue with the team and will not report for the training camp.

But there are penalties and fines involved when a player under-contract fails to report to the team. According to several reports, Ben is ready to pay a fine for not attending the training camp. Recently, Summons has also liked an Instagram post that breaks down the fines he could face.

Simmons recently liked an Instagram post that broke down the fines and penalties he could face in the coming season for not reporting to his team.

The Australian can be fined up to $1.3 million for missing the practice sessions in total. He will be fined $227k for every session. But it has been reported that Simmons is ready to pay the hefty sum. Ben has no plans of returning to the Sixers and this won’t the only penalty he has to pay. Here’s the breakdown of how much he can be fined:

Missing media day: Up to $50k

Practice: $2500 (1st), $5000 (2nd), $7500 (3rd),

Practice 4th and beyond: Up to $50k

Exhibition and regular-season games (Up to 20): $277k per game

Regular season game (21 to 82): $300k

The Sixers are yet to find a suitor for Ben Simmons and it’s yet to be seen if the fines could change Simmons’ mind. Ben Simmons is under contract with the Sixers till 2024-25 season and expects the Sixers to accept the best trade deal being offered.
