Who doesn’t dream of playing with the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic? Well, even the top players of the current generation relish this thought. And, Barbora Krejcikova is no different. After not a great start to her WTA Finals campaign, the Czech Republican star won back-to-back matches and has made it to the last 4 in Riyadh. Ahead of her semifinal encounter, she relished a dream pairing with a member of the famed Big Three.

Interestingly, Krejcikova once teamed up with Djokovic to play Pickleball ahead of this year’s US Open. However, she has never played tennis alongside any of them. Yesterday, she was involved in a candid conversation with her fans on social media where she was asked, “If you could play mixed doubles with one retired ATP player, who would it be?”

Hilariously so, she pointed that she couldn’t say Nadal anymore as the Spanish maestro would be retiring after the upcoming Davis Cup Finals. So, replying to the question, Krejcikova said, “I still cannot say Rafa, right? So since I already played with Novak (it was pickle tennis though), I would like to play with Roger to complete the big three.”

Further, Krejcikova is a huge fan of Federer and loves his playing style. During an interview earlier this year, the reigning Wimbledon champion was asked who was her favorite player among the Big Three. She said, “Rafa and Roger. Don’t make me choose. I love Roger’s grace and Rafa’s fighting spirit.”

While Krejcikova may be peaking in her career, consistency is something that she would look to strive for. However, she gave a firm response to a fan when asked in this regard.

Barbora Krejcikova reflects on a ‘rollercoaster’ season

Despite winning the Wimbledon Championships title, it hasn’t been the best of seasons for the Czech Republican star. Injuries and inconsistencies have played a fair bit of role in this, as she has won just a solitary title in 2024. While she is hopeful of a good show going forward, Krejcikova got irritated when a fan questioned her consistency on X.

She hit back, saying, “Thank you for this question! The most interesting one. I wish I knew the answer. I think for example in 2021 I was very consistent. This year was a rollercoaster. But overall, it’s very complex. Sometimes it’s injuries preventing me, sometimes the mental part. I am not a robot.”

With confidence running high after defeating Gauff, Krejcikova went down fighting against Qinwen Zheng in the semifinals of the WTA Finals today. With this, her season came to a disappointing end as the Chinese star crashed Krejcikova’s hopes of winning her maiden WTA Finals title. Can the Czech player come back strongly and prove her critics wrong in the upcoming season? Let us know your views in he comments below.
