The Serbian legend completed 400 weeks as the World’s Number 1 tennis player. It was a marvelous achievement that was unheard of. Subsequently, Djokovic also went on to defeat Jannik Sinner in the summit clash to clinch the title. Djokovic’s rankings feat has already made him surpass Roger Federer and Serena Williams‘ records. But he hasn’t yet overcome the record set by a WTA legend.

While Djokovic has completed 400 weeks as the top-ranked player, he has ended the year as World Number 1 on 8 occasions. This is way ahead of Roger Federer and Serena Williams’ feats. Both these players have ended the year as World Number 1 on just 5 occasions. However, there is yet another player who is on par with Djokovic at the top, and that is Steffi Graf.

Graf has ended as year-end World Number 1 on eight occasions too. Thus, Djokovic needs to finish another year as World Number 1 to go on top of this records chart. However, by doing it this time, he overcame Navratilova‘s feat of seven-year-ending World Number 1.

Novak Djokovic’s ambitions for next year

The Serb had a victorious campaign at the year-ending championship in Turin. After he defeated Sinner at the ATP Finals, he was asked about his plans and goals for the 2024 season.

Replying to this question, he said, “Well, you can win four slams and Olympic gold (smiling). Let’s see. I mean, I have always the highest ambitions and goals. That’s not going to be different for the next year, that’s for sure. The drive that I have is still there. My body has been serving me well, listening to me well. I have a great team of people around me.”
