Inside Jakub Mensik’s relationship with his parents

Mensik’s father brought his learnings from his hockey days to properly get Jakub Mensik’s head ready. The highest level of tennis requires the steadiest of nerves. And with the ambitions Mensik has, he will need the right guidance. “He always wanted to be a professional tennis player,” Michal said to ATP Tour in August 2023. “He wanted to win all the Grand Slams and to be No. 1.”

On the other hand, his mother is the caring support that makes sure Jakub always has all the resources needed for a tour. She is the shadow that provides Mensik with the right nutrition, showering him with encouragement when the young tennis talent badly needs it, while also taking care of the logistical needs of her son’s tennis calendar.

But Katerina isn’t just getting Jakub prepared for his tennis career. Rather, she believes in the supremacy of a well-rounded individual who has authority over sports as well as academic endeavors. So, as much as being on the court excites Jakub Mensik, his mother has ensured he hasn’t missed school.
