The Australian tennis star was lauded by the entire sporting community as he secured a runner-up finish at arguably the most prestigious Grand Slam tournament. During his phenomenal run at Wimbledon, the ‘bad boy of tennis’ swept aside some of the players of high caliber to reach the championship match.

However, among all these incredible showdowns, it is his matchup against his Greek colleague, Stefanos Tsitsipas, that still holds a special place in Kyrgios’ memory. Reminiscing about the same, the controversial tennis player recently brought to light his notorious approach toward the game.

Nick Kyrgios gets real about his ‘rattling’ strategy on the court

In the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championship, the Australian was up against the fourth-seeded Greek player. Nick Kyrgios, who dropped the first set in a thrilling encounter, later turned the match in his favor as he managed to outperform Stefanos Tsitsipas, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6.

Even though it happened in the previous season, Kyrgios has still not forgotten his thrilling four-set victory, according to his recent revelations in a podcast show. Reminiscing about his grass-court encounter, the Aussie said, “I mean, look at that Tsitsipas match where, you know, I was in his head.”

Meanwhile, the ‘bad boy of tennis’ also candidly spoke about his ‘rattling the opponent’ strategy on the court. He added, “You know, I was living in there rent-free, and yeah, when I can say that I’m really starting to rattle my opponent mentally, that’s a nice place.”

Though he managed to ‘rattle’ Tsitsipas, Kyrgios opened up about how he was unable to replicate his notorious approach against  Novak Djokovic.

After brushing aside some of the big guns in the grass Grand Slam event, the Aussie was set up for a blockbuster finale against Novak Djokovic. Despite winning the first set of his challenging encounter against the Serbian tennis great, Kyrgios asserted that he found it quite ‘hard to rattle’ Djokovic as he was so composed throughout the match.

The Aussie, who was defeated in a four-set matchup  6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-7, further hailed the 24-time singles Grand Slam champion for his vast experience in such major tournaments. Kyrgios added, “He is a GOAT for a reason.”
