After catching the spotlight in the tennis cinematic universe with ‘Challengers,’ Zendaya’s name has popped up in the sport quite repeatedly. Her iconic ad with Roger Federer, where they played an air tennis match for his brand On Running, made waves. The 28-year-old Hollywood star even appeared at the 2024 BNP Paribas Open alongside Marvel’s Tom Holland! It’s safe to say she is firmly a part of the tennis scene. But now, her new campaign with On Running takes things to a whole new level—literally out of this world!
After Katy Perry’s brief suborbital adventure with Blue Origin on April 14, space fever is definitely in the air. On Running and Zendaya are riding that wave with their boldest campaign yet, teaming up with acclaimed visual artist Nadia Lee Cohen and Zendaya’s iconic stylist, Law Roach. Their latest drop, Zone Dreamers, is all about pushing culture forward—mixing high-performance gear with unapologetic self-expression. The centerpiece? A visually stunning film set in outer space, with Zendaya starring as a fearless astronaut on an interstellar mission
On Instagram, Law Roach explained the outfit’s inspiration: “Today, we are going to ‘outer space’ and I want to talk a little bit about what she’s wearing. We were inspired by retro sci-fi movies. And so I have the idea to work with Chris Habans from New York, who created this.”

To launch its latest shoes, Roger Federer’s brand went all out with a fictional movie trailer starring Zendaya. In the ad, Zendaya takes on the role of an elf-eared astronaut, training in space with her crew and serving up serious athleisure style. Law Roach summed up the design magic: “More important thing was it would be breathable and movable, but my favorite part about it is that you can see the shoes through the moon boot that we created. And the body knit on her body.”
This campaign is all about On’s new Cloudzone sneaker, the Studio Knit Bodysuit, and other Spring/Summer 2025 pieces Zendaya rocks throughout. “It was a beautiful effort to create these suits that would live in our imaginations of what space feels like and looks like,” Law said.
Additionally, this is big-league marketing in a seriously crowded field. Global athleisure sales are set to rocket by more than $173 billion from 2024 to 2028, according to Technavio. Lifestyle, yoga, and women’s athleisure are fueling most of this growth.
On’s campaign shows that just having a celebrity spokesperson is truly changing the game. Celebrity brand ambassadors are everywhere. Zendaya’s star power has only grown after her role as Tashi in the 2024 film Challengers. Even Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, is interested in bringing her on for Athlos!

Alexis Ohanian makes a promise to bring in Zendaya for his brand!
Zendaya has got a fair few fans in the track & field universe as well. Take New Zealand sprinter Zoe Hobbs, for example. When asked who she’d want to play her in a documentary, she said, “Zendaya would be really nice.” The interviewer teased that since Zendaya’s already tried tennis in Challengers, maybe she’s ready to hit the track too.
Alexis Ohanian quickly shared the interview on Instagram, captioning it, “First step is getting Zendaya to ATHLOS 2025… @zoe__hobbs I gotchu.” Ohanian is all about giving women athletes the “spotlight they deserve,” and the huge buzz around the 2024 Athlos event has him dreaming bigger for 2025.
Zendaya’s tennis obsession took off after Challengers, but she admits she wasn’t always a tennis buff. “Serena and Venus [Williams] — that’s all I connected to. And probably Roger Federer,” she said. For the film, she trained with Coco Gauff’s former coach, Brad Gilbert, showing serious dedication. And sports have always been part of her life: “I played soccer, basketball, and ran track before I told my parents I didn’t want to do sports.”
