Tiafoe has had a difficult season in 2024 and has yet to win a title. A year ago, he was ranked World No. 10, but now he is at 28. During the season, he advanced to two finals: one at the Houston Open, where he lost to fellow countryman Ben Shelton, and another at the Delray Beach Open, where he lost to Tommy Paul.

In an on-court interview, he stated, “I feel like I’m moving better and better. Obviously, still a little timid at times. Don’t want to hurt yourself even more. I feel like I’m closer and closer to 100%.” Tiafoe took a horrific tumble during his opening-round match at the 2024 Queens Club Championships, which resulted in a heavy loss.

The American tennis player was up against Rinky Hijikata when an injury forced her to leave the match early. Tiafoe was serving when the incident happened in the third set, with Hijikata up 1-0 (15-0). Tiafoe lost the game after the fall because he was unable to continue after requesting a medical break. Tiafoe’s tournament debut was disappointing due to the unfavorable course of circumstances.

Tiafoe’s nasty fall triggered John Isner

John Isner recently voiced criticism about the conditions at the Queen’s Club, despite acknowledging it as one of the premier events on the tennis calendar. The American athlete voiced concerns about the court surfaces not living up to the hype, calling them “diabolically slippery,” especially in the early going in the competition.

He stated, “Queens is undoubtedly one of the best events of the year, but the courts are diabolically slippery, especially on Monday and Tuesday.” In addition, he used Juan Martin del Potro’s earlier statements to emphasize that Queen’s Club court conditions had not improved significantly in the last five years. Del Potro’s experiences highlight persistent worries regarding the reliability and security of the playing surfaces at the competition, and organizers are urged to take these concerns seriously for the good of all participating players.
