Jack Draper expresses bare emotions to a raucous crowd in Melbourne Park

British superstar Jack Draper broke into the big leagues after reaching the semifinal of the US Open last year in style, donning a classy oversized Nike t-shirt for his Flushing Meadows outing. After asserting his dominance in the John Cain Arena, the Briton addressed dealing with the tough atmosphere as he valiantly battled the home favorite.

During an on-court interview with John McEnroe, Draper said: “This is what I have played for since I was a young guy. I want to play in front of big crowds and whether you guys are with me or against me, it was a tough atmosphere to deal with. You guys are obviously all with Thanasi but I had a little fun back. It was so good to be out here, really happy with the amount of support we get every year at these big tournaments. It’s unbelievable.”

For the uninitiated, Draper and his close friend Emma Raducanu became a part of British history after joining four other British tennis stars in the second round of the AO for the first time. Compatriots Jacob Fearnley, Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, and Jodie Burrage joined the duo.

Next up, Draper will take on yet another Aussie, Aleksandar Vukic for a place in the third round of the Melbourne Slam on Friday, January 17.
