Ever since NWSL star Trinity Rodman sealed her relationship status with a kiss on beau Ben Shelton’s cheek in March, eyes have barely left the couple. While the stars have mostly enjoyed all the attention, topped off by regular appearances to support each other, some instances have been rather painful when compared to others. Take Rodman’s 2025 Wimbledon appearance for example. After being addressed as “Tiffany” multiple times, and commentators’ laser focus on her estranged dad, Dennis Rodman, the soccer star was forced to speak out.
“It’s him and his loved ones’ moment,” the Washington Spirit star had said. Endearingly, though, for Shelton, his girlfriend is also one of the “loved ones” that ought to get included in the “moment”.
On Thursday night, in front of 10,805 fans at Sobeys Stadium, the world no. 7 clinched his maiden ATP Masters 1,000 title after defeating Karen Khachanov by a 6(5)-7,6-4,7-6(3). While the 22-year-old was elated and naturally responded with, “I feel like it was a perfect storm for me this week. A lot of tight matches, long matches, played some of the best tennis that I’ve played this year,” he also didn’t forget what actually mattered.

During his post-match interview, Shelton said, “I want to thank God. I feel so blessed. To have opportunities like this, not many people in life get to experience things like this. The joy I feel today isn’t just because of the win. It’s because of the people I get to spend every day with. The people I love. The people that love me. The people that will fight for me and have my back.”

He further added, “There’s a couple here. There’s a whole lot that aren’t here. My whole extended family. Especially my mom, my sister, and my girlfriend. They’ve been with me every single day, even though they haven’t been here in Canada. I’m just really blessed to have the people that I have in my life.”
The victor also gave a special mention to his father and coach, Bryan Shelton. He highlighted his father’s role in pushing him to chase further excellence and also spoke about his enormous support in his tennis journey. “It’s been pretty special to share these moments with you out here,” he concluded his speech by saying.
