The early days of Roger Federer as a professional tennis player
At the age of 16, Roger Federer made his professional debut at the ATP Gstaad tournament in 1998. However, Federer couldn’t go past the round of 32 and lost to Lucas Arnold Ker 4-6 4-6. His first tournament victory came in 2001 at the Milan Indoor competition, where he beat Julien Boutter in three sets (6-4, 6-7, 6-4).
